This email from Mitch Lang hit my inbox this week and I knew it would inspire you with your chip carving.
"I'm a platinum member and thought you'd be interested in hearing about one way I've put the skills I've learned from you to use.
I volunteer with a nonprofit where I live (Portland Oregon) that provides weekend lunches to low-income elementary school kids. I set up a benefit sale on my website of some of my chip carvings, with all proceeds going to this organization. So far I've raised close to $700, which will pay for 100+ food sacks. (The sale page is www.mitchlang-woodcarving.com/benefit-sale).
Thanks so much for introducing me to this wonderful craft!
Best wishes,
Mitch Lang
p.s. You can mention that I was introduced to chip carving through your website, and could not have done these carvings without the technical know how you provide in your videos."
I hope you'll visit his website to see more of his work and skills on display. Here's a few snaphots...
After releasing the 2021 Easy Ornament Pattern last week, I got to thinking about the Christmas Sleigh Pattern which is featured in the current Issue of Woodcarving Illustrated.
This carving was very popular last year in spite of the pattern being a bit more challenging than some would have liked.
So today I started work on an Easy Christmas Sleigh pattern and I'll have it ready by this time next week. Should be a perfect November chip carving project! Stay tuned...
