The day before yesterday I went Christmas shopping!
Normally I'm not much of a shopper, but where I went shopping made all the difference.
I visited Mary and Frank at the Courtland sawmill!
Now you know why this wasn't your normal Department Store experience for me. 🤣🤣
There are thousands of board feet of lumber for me to drool over and for Chip to explore. At first they had a hard time pointing me to the basswood I was looking for but that didn't keep me from finding something else I was interested in.
The 8/4 White Pine was excellent and I could see cutting out some Mantle Clocks from this great carving wood.
And once I found the butternut, I almost broke the bank after loading up on some pristine boards. After carving butternut in last Tuesday's Platinum Member webinar, I immediately started thinking of some projects that would be great when made from butternut. Let me know any project ideas made from butternut that you have! Email me.
Paisley border carving during the Webinar so you can
see what butternut looks like.
Butternut is soft and carves wonderfully. It is open pored
with more prominent grain.
After being distracted by the Pine and Butternut, we found the pallet of basswood I was looking for. The clear boards were my target and I scored a nice stack. The most enjoyable shopping I've done in a long time 😁😁😁

I am interested in project ideas you have!
Your requests are appreciated. While I can't make any promises I'll be able to make them, you never know unless you me know!
