Here are the steps I followed to create the 1st Pattern for the New Year.
I wanted a floral pattern of some type for the back of a hand mirror so in DuckDuckGo I searched for "floral line drawing" and looked for one that could be used to fit the space.
One of the results was this...
I downloaded the image and opened it up in Inkscape along with an outline of the hand mirror. Placing the flowers on top of the outline made it easy to resize the flowers until they fit nicely on the back of the mirror.
I exported the image from Inkscape and imported it into Amaziograph on my iPad so I could use my Apple pencil to do some editing. The drawing was too complex to chip carve so I needed to simplify it into chips that could be carved.
I did this by adding a new layer on top and started to draw.
When I was done I erased the parts on the first layer to reveal the pattern.
Adding floral stems and leaves down the handle made it complete.
I plan to add some floral design on the front of the handle.

1st Tutorial
In case you missed it last week, I released a tutorial for you to learn how to add color to your chip carving.
When adding color to your chip carving, let me suggest a few things to keep in mind.
1. Color should accentuate your carving and not distract from it. Rather than color this entire box, I purposely separated the background from the rosette and borders using contrasting colors. Making it all one color would tend to blur everything together.
2. Color will change the shadows depending on the type of paint used. A normal flat acrylic will create some shadows if the color is light. Dark colors will remove all shadows. Metallic acrylics will reflect the light off the paint itself. Experiment on practice boards until you get the effect desired.
3. Colors on opposite sides of the color wheel are contrasting and will really stand out when next to each other. The yellow and purple colors I used on the box contrast each other quite a lot. Notice the position of these colors on the wheel.
Keep these things in mind as you experiment with adding color to your chip carving!
