First, I trust your Thanksgiving was a blessing and you were able to spend it with loved ones enjoying your time together. Know that I'm thankful for you and how you support and encourage me throughout the year.
This past week I was finishing up a wedding plate for the son and new daughter-in-law of friend's of ours who were married in September.
Here's the plate...
I just had the painting to do as I'd carved it several weeks ago.
As I was peeling off the vinyl mask and the finished plate was being revealed, not only was I struck with the beauty of the carving and the magnificent colors (no self-praise intended), but I realized that these EZboard plate carvings bring me a lot of JOY!
I was really feeling it inside! And I'm not much of a feely kinda guy. 😉 Compared to other carvings I've been doing, this kind of carving tops my Joy-list and I hadn't realized it before.
Some reasons why this is the case might be because I selected the colors and was so pleased when I peeled off the mask to see that the color combinations worked so well together. I felt like a little kid wanting to show someone what I did.
Also, each plate is so unique that I see them as works of art rather than a "normal" chip carved plate. I've been chip carving for 36 years so I think the newness of this style of carving brings me JOY.
Finally, there are unlimited possibilities when deciding on a color theme. I've probably carved a dozen of this style wedding plate and each one brought me JOY in a unique way that didn't realize until this past week.
Really thinking about what brings me JOY in chip carving has been a mini-revelation to me.
