Not long ago I concluded one letter with a video of Chip running ahead of me on a beautiful Spring day. While I was optimistic on that day of nicer weather ahead, my hopes were dashed this past week.
I know it's normal for Minnesota, but having snow on the ground this morning is getting old. The blizzard on April 14th just a few years ago is fresh in my memory, but I'm not giving up hope!
Any day now the grass will turn green and the flowers will start to bloom.
Ya, you betcha.
Bowl Carving
A friend I made on Instagram, Gunnar, from Norway, creates some beautiful chip carved mugs, bowls and other flat and turned objects. He surprised me a while back with one of his turned bowls. Uncarved of course, so I could try and match his expertise!
In his honor I looked at some of his bowl patterns and combined some of the common elements he uses in this pattern.
I'm very pleased with the results and I'm looking forward to showing him and getting his feedback.
This pattern contains some chips that I think might be the most important chips to learn how to remove.
Take a guess which chips I'm thinking of.
There aren't too many to pick from so your chances of getting it right are pretty high. 👍

Providing HOPE & ENCOURAGEMENT
My wife, Shelley, teaches basic living skills to adults in Mankato, MN. Part of her work that she enjoys the most is going to the County Jail twice a week and teaching some of the guys these same skills. She's really good at her work and cares a lot for her students. It's easy to see.
She invites me to come in and talk with the guys about starting a business and how I did it and what I've experienced. Shelley talks me up beforehand which makes my visit that much easier. 😀
Many of these men have some business experience and/or an interest in art so getting their attention is easy especially when I start passing around chip carving samples. (you'll notice several of the guys are looking at samples when the photo was taken)
It's my desire to encourage each one and provide them with hope that when they get out things can be different. Find a mentor, change your friendship circles, do the next right thing, find a steady job and practice the other skills Shelley and the other speakers share with them.
Not easy for them, but possible with the help of God.
Here's the chips that I think are the most important to learn how to remove.
These are Gothic leaf shaped chips!
These are the most important because variations of these chips are found in MANY different free form chips, letters, numbers, rosettes and borders.
In next week's LIVE Webinar, Tuesday, April 12th, I'll show you several places where this style of chip shows up and how to successfully remove them with ZERO chip out.
