Last week I shared with you about Starbond Cyanoacrylate CA Glue. and how useful, strong and quick I've found it with my shop work.

I used a lot of CA on model airplanes. For me the thin was best most of the time. I could jig a wing structure and dry fit the ribs, spars, leading and trailing edges. Then put a drop of thin CA on every joint. It not only dried fast, it would also soak into the balsa some and made for very strong joints.

I also used CA for repairs. Did you know Baking Soda is a catalyst, and can be used as a filler? Thin CA soaks right in and it hardens like concrete, even smokes from the chemical reaction. If you're having trouble with a material reluctant to bond, just dust the joint with Baking Soda, and bingo. Or, you can build up a fillet reinforcement.

Since you only mentioned accelerant, I thought you might like to also know about Baking Soda.

Baking soda acts as a catalyst and an accelerant. I'm interested in giving this a try.

I would like to suggest this to you about CA glue, no matter the brand that's the best, keep it in the fridge and forget about the glue getting hard.

This is a good point! Starbond points this out in their instructions. CA Glue will last longer when properly stored in a cool place.

I need your feedback, pleeeeeease!

I'm in the creative development stage for a new desk or wall clock design with a small movement insert. But when it comes down to a final design, it doesn't matter how much I'm thrilled about it if you don't like it and won't buy it for your next carving project.

They do no one any good sitting on my shelf!

So...here are a few possibilities that I could produce, design a pattern for and make available in the Store.

The price range is $25-$35 with the movement included (Movements have increased in price a lot. I got these on sale a while ago so I'll pass on the savings to you).

A and B will be bigger than shown. The movement is 3" diameter.

E will be 3-4" basswood boards with basic, Essentials Course patterns applied on each board. Take the Course, carve this clock.

Could you please let me know which clock(s) you'd purchase?

You'll have to use your imagination to visualize where the chip carving will go on each clock.

If you wouldn't buy any of them let me know, it won't hurt my feelings.🙂

This carving just in...

I first met Gord in a class I was teaching in Ottawa. We had such a good time and several of the students remain in contact which is fantastic.

Here's an elephant he carved.

Gord says this, "These are some of my recent boxes I made for friends. I used scroll saw patterns for the dogs. The carving is on basswood the trim is walnut."
