Hello, chip carve a traditional rosette for August ❗
Published: Sat, 08/20/22
Hi ,
The new project for August is a Napkin
Holder with Base and the Rosettes on both sides are very traditional.
These two patterns are found in an early book by Wayne Barton, The Complete Guide to Chip Carving. I adapted them to fit on our Napkin Holder and added a small element on the base to bring it all
together.
While I wouldn't classify either of these as beginner patterns, with practice combined with the instruction provided in this month's video and webinar, I think they're good patterns to have a go at.
Both patterns will fit on one side of a 6x12" practice board. Start there and work out any challenges that arise when tackling each one. That way when you're ready to carve the napkin holder your confidence will be increased and your
results will be something to be proud of.
Here's a high-speed view of the video tutorial for this project.
The second pattern for this month's project consists of overlapping circles to form a floral rosette.
In the Platinum Member Webinar last Tuesday night, I explained how to complete this carving. During our 60 minute meeting I was able to carve the majority of the rosette. After closing our meeting I finished it in about 30 minutes. It will take you longer, but don't worry about it. Enjoy the process and learn from
chip-to-chip!
Platinum Memberships are now available Monthly!
I hope you'll carve this month's project to further develop your chip carving skills. As your results improve you'll find that your enjoyment level for this great craft will increase as
well.
