Instead, dream small and make big accomplishments."

He likened this to telling someone, "You can be anything you want to be!"
because someone with a bad voice will never produce a smash hit song and a clumsy person with 2 left feet will never perform in a ballet.

I've been thinking how and if this relates to someone learning how to chip carve. I suppose it does because while I believe everyone can
succeed and learn how to chip carve, that doesn't mean anyone can earn all blue ribbons in every show they compete in.Â
Â
I think it comes down to starting with the Essentials and building from there. Holding the knife properly, learning how to get a Scary Sharp edge, mastering 2-sided and then 3-corner chips, and on-and-on one chip at a time as far as you can and want to go! Maybe for you that means carving a graduation box for one of your relatives that you've always dreamed of carving. Or it could mean a Grand Champion ribbon at your
local or state fair. And it might mean learning how to chip carve for the pure enjoyment of this great craft!
Â
I don't know if that's dreaming small? But I know it is making big accomplishments!Â
