Questions about Knife Sharpening are really common and for good reason. Without a Scary Sharp Knife you're setting yourself up for frustration and grief.
There are many different methods that can be used to sharpen a knife. For years I used ceramic stones and got a decent edge. You can use Japanese water stones and work your way through the grits and you'll get a super sharp knife. Problem is the stones are very expensive and
have to be maintained and flattened regularly and they're difficult to transport.
So when I started my search for a Scary Sharp edge I focused on affordability and ease of use. After some trial and error and searching for materials I came up with the Scary Sharp Knife Sharpening Kit.
And now, after years of many satisfied customers, I'm making an improvement to the Kit. I've replaced the sharpening board with an Aluminum Sharpening Stick.
When using this stick, your hand is higher up from the table surface giving you better
control during the sharpening process!
Also, extra strips can be stored inside the Stick and the entire Kit is more portable when compared the 10x10 flat melamine board.
Here's an updated video showing you how to use the Kit and the guaranteed Scary Sharp results you'll get.
Jesse C. got his Diamond Bocote Knife recently and here's what he shared with me.
Marty, My knife came today, and it’s beyond expectations. One thing that really stood out is the weight of it. It has balance in my hand, but I can relax my grip more
than I have with my Flexcut knife I was gifted.
Your knife made me go long on my lunch break today. I lost track of time because I could just focus on the joy of each cut.
Thanks for all you do to promote this fantastic art.
"I can't help its" caught up with me again. I added felt bottoms in the Knife Box slots. First, your precision tools need to be pampered! Yet I also find a lot
less rattling when I move the box around. Of course it had to be red! I also added a felt bottom to give it a more elegant look and feel. Best always, Carl.
Over the past few years butternut trees have been ravaged by disease to the point of facing possible extinction. "Butternut trees are dying from butternut canker and certain insects may be vectors of the spores of the causal fungus."read more
The mill where I get some of my lumber still has butternut but mentioned to
me they don't know how long their supply will last. That's unfortunate as it is a beautiful wood that carves wonderfully.
