The holder shown was a new project back in April of 2021. I figured it was time for a new pattern for this intriguing product.
Browsing through my copy of The Grammar of Ornament, by Owen Jones, I came across a Byzantine pattern that caught my eye.
It appeared to be something I could work with for the face of the Wine Bottle Holder.
Here's what it looked like in the book.
I started using Inkscape but quickly abandoned it realizing I could create the pattern much easier with the Pattern Wizard.
Here's what I came up with for this pattern for December!
And here's what the face and edge looks like carved but not finished.
So, what do you think?
Can you see how I used the ornamental Byzantine design to create this pattern?
Once I created one of the rosettes it was easy to duplicate and join them together using the tools in the Pattern Wizard.
Like any software design tool, the more you use it the easier it gets!
