During the past couple of weeks I posted several items on Facebook that I had on my phone.
This post got me thinking....
...it got me thinking how much I enjoy chip carving letters and numbers.
Clean, crisp and elegantly carved letters personalize any project. It doesn't have to be names and dates. Carving a saying or quote adds your own special touch to whatever it is you're creating. Take this tea box for example.
The saying on the front makes this a one-of-a-kind carving!
The carved letters draw in the viewer and brings due attention to the carved elements on the rest of the box. It's perfect!
I'd like to teach you how to chip carve letters and numbers!
That way you'll have access to this Letters & Numbers Course AND all of the OTHER Courses, Videos and Patterns I've
created and will create in the future!
Now that's a real deal 😉 Sign up TODAY!
Speaking of chip carving Letters and Numbers, next Tuesday, Feb.14th, the Live Platinum Member Webinar will be "Chip Carving a New Font!"
We'll explore the intricacies involved in carving a font that I'm confident you'll want to use on an upcoming project!
Whenever someone joins MyChipCarving, I check in with them to see how they're doing. You can imagine how pleased I was to get this reply from DV!
I'm in the middle of watching 2-chip course. Really impressed with content and website. Thanks for checking in. DV
Chip Carving as Therapy!
EI joined the Platinum Community several months ago and just ordered the Diamond Professional Kit to really step up her skills!
Hi Marty! I am super excited about the new kit. I already have one of your knives I love it! I have fallen in love with Chip carving and am loving your courses. Your website has helped me with my anxiety, and has helped me with working through my burn
out from my career as a Veterinary Technician. EI
To know that Chip carving is helping EI with anxiety and burnout is really encouraging to me. Others have shared with me how chip carving has helped them during times of grief and change along with the creative aspect of our craft helping with depression. Yes, chip carving can be
therapeutic.
Got this from DP!
Hi Marty, I just finished my first chip carving project . I need some advice on the finish. I would like to keep it as light as possible, and pick up as much of the grain as possible.
My reply...
Hello Don,
Congratulations on completing your first chip carving project. Well done! You create some nice chips resulting in good shadows.
Finishing - easiest and quickest finish is spray clear matte finish (Rustoleum 2X) 3-4 coats or use spray satin lacquer.
This will keep the basswood light in color and it won't yellow with
age.
Basswood, as you can see in your frame, has very little grain. That's why we like it so much for chip carving!
There are other finishing techniques that you can learn about in the Finishing Course.
