Not everyone is into wood stained items these days. I might guess that few people younger than 50 years old are, but that's just a guess. Adding color makes your carving more suitable and popular to a broader scope of people.Â
Â
Here's a basswood Cribbage Board where I used the same technique to apply metallic acrylic paint to the surface of an already carved and stained object. It almost looks like leather. Â
When applying color AFTER the item is carved you have to use a method to apply the paint ONLY to the surface with a very minimal amount of paint getting into the carved recesses.Â
Â
I'm going to add a lesson to the Finishing Course showing you how to use this technique to add color. It's quite easy and as you can see, the results are stunning!
I found out that I really like the General Finish gel stain and have started using it more. I was not real happy with the other brands that I have used. Have a blessed Christmas and thank you for all that you do for me and others. You are loved and appreciated. Nancy

Positive Feedback from Charles
Â
A few weeks ago Charles mentioned he was have a struggle removing large chips. His email led me to add "Removing Large Chips" to the December Webinar. Charles lives in Australia, and after watching the replay of the
webinar and some other Platinum Member Videos I pointed out to him, he had this to say.
Â
"Hi Marty, Since I have watched the program on carving large chips and the webinar the large chips are going better.Â
I am mostly using the technique of cutting smaller pieces out. Sine I started doing this things are better."Â
Â
Fantastic to get this report!
Lowell is Turning & Chip Carving!
Here’s my first effort at adding chipcarving into segmented bowl turning. It will be a retirement gift for a long-time coworker! I hope he and you like it! Lowell Â
Love it , Lowell!Â
Well done for your first attempt. It inspires me to fire up my lathe.
