You may discover you can do more than you thought!
Howdy !
This past week my family spent a few days at a beach house for a quick summer getaway. We were sure to choose a house with a fenced-in yard so that Mia could join in the fun, even though she is not a water dog (that's a story for another day).
What does this have to do with taking a chance and
discovering you can do more than you realized?
Mia learned she could jump the fence when she never had before.
My wife and I learned that Mia would listen to us and not continue to run off as she did when she was younger.
I wasn't necessarily surprised by point number 1 above, but I was surprised by point number 2. I found myself afterward feeling more confident in the fact that Mia was able to overcome her instincts to run when suddenly
free and off-leash. Even though I didn't intentionally take a chance of letting Mia off-leash, I wouldn't have learned something new about her without that happening.
I think that same lesson can apply to chip carving. It's always great to read emails from people who are 'hopping the fence' from other types of carving to see if chip carving is something they'll enjoy and maybe use to enhance their other carvings. Others take a chance by trying a new finishing technique,
adding color, lettering, or a larger project.
Taking a chance may not always end with the desired outcome, but you'll learn something along the way to help you grow. There will also be times when you find that you already have what it takes and are ready for the next challenge!
What have you learned from your latest projects? I'm ready for more of your wonderful project pictures!
