There are always great ideas and support from the community!
Howdy !
I loved this comment from Jon in last week's newsletter:
"I've been so blessed by and grateful for the generous and helpful MCC community, and the resources and mentoring available through MCC."
I was reminded of the importance of community while on vacation when my daughter
helped me download museum tickets onto my phone during a downpour and poor cellular reception. I thought I had everything ready ahead of time, only to discover I had downloaded the booking confirmation code instead of the actual tickets. I won’t go into all the details, but thankfully, my daughter’s quick thinking saved the day and got the tickets, allowing us to enter and get out of the rain!
While I hope it’s in less tense and stressful situations than my museum
experience, it is always great to hear how others find help, support, and inspiration from being a part of the My Chip Carving community. Whether it's seeing a new pattern, carving techniques, or a new way to add color, it's great to have a community of carvers willing to share their experiences through their carvings. It's just as much fun to see new ideas and techniques, and even more fun to try them out!
Do you have a project or technique you'd like to share with the community? Send it to me at troy@mychipcarving.com
August's Monthly Project
2025 Christmas Ornament
This year's pattern is a combination of straight and curved cuts. The curved cuts help create the diamond shapes. A horizontal hole is drilled in the sides at the peak for a ribbon to pass through.
I am sending a photo with my latest carving, I think my best so far. The central rosette is W. Barton’s design. What do you think?
Wishing you all the best,
Andrei
Hello Andrei,
This is beautiful! The design works well with the Barton rosette. The squares on each end of the Gothic cross look perfectly symmetrical. The stain is a nice rich color, too.
