Read about what my refrigerator troubles reminded me about chip carving.
Howdy !
Ever have one of those weeks (or three) where something just won’t cooperate? Recently, I spent three weeks wrangling with a refrigerator that decided to work only when it felt like it. The first technician visit—naturally, everything was working fine. Hours later, the temperature started climbing again. A second visit finally uncovered the
issue, but of course, the part had to be ordered, so the fix took another week. Talk about a test of patience!
This experience made me realize that one of the best things about chip carving is that, while you may encounter occasional challenges that need to be worked through, once you’ve finished your project, you don’t have to worry about it "breaking down" or requiring a technician to come fix it. A well-done carving is there to enjoy—no ongoing headaches. After all the time
and care you put in, having a finished piece that simply does its job and looks great is something to appreciate!
A few years ago I got the pattern for a dala horse ornament and made about 10 of these. People loved them. I am thinking of doing a larger one but not enough time yet.
Thanks for sharing your ornament Nancy! I can see why people loved it!
