Howdy !
Â
First off, a huge thank you to everyone for your tremendous response to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales! It looks like there’s going to be a lot of chip carving happening in the near future, and I couldn’t be more grateful for your continued support of My Chip Carving. Whether you picked up a new knife, a box  or two, or just
stopped by to browse, your enthusiasm keeps this community strong and creative.
Â
As I sat down to create this month’s pattern, I had no idea what it would be. I started by defining the available space—a 1.75-inch by 3.5-inch rectangle. Once the easy part was out of the way, I began creating a group of shapes that would fit into a square that was an eighth of the area. Since I was using the Pattern Wizard application, I knew that once I had a pattern that fit this area, I could
easily replicate it and fill the rest of the space. Well, one 3-corner chip led to another, and to another, until the space was almost filled. However, I noticed that most of the chips were similar in size, so I decided to separate the repeating design by adding a larger canoe chip that was the height of the area.

Â
I like the contrast of the larger chip and thought it provided the needed variety. What do you think? I always enjoy hearing your thoughts and seeing how you interpret patterns in your own projects. Please send your ideas and latest projects to troy@mychipcarving.com!
