Hello ,
Shelley and I arrived in Springfield, IL, to the sounds of motorcycles at the Springfield Mile flat track. I enjoy my cycle riding so seeing all the bikes around was enjoyable. I learned from some of the riders and ex-racers that this mile long track is the fastest in the country and may be the fastest in the world because of the way it is designed. Speeds reach over 100 mph with the pros hitting 115+mph. I'm tempted to take in the races next time I'm in Springfield over Labor Day
weekend.
My Labor Day Weekend was full of chips. Seven eager students joined me in Williamsville, IL, for a 1-1/2 day class where we covered the basics along with advanced skills and applied good chip carving technique on some free form patterns. The progress everyone made was crystal clear by the end of class.
During the Sangamon Wood Carving Show in Springfield on Saturday and Sunday it was good to meet members and prior students. Also, I squeezed in a couple of demonstrations. I enjoy these demos and the chance to show everyone how fun, easy and affordable chip carving is.
I'm already looking ahead to March-April, 2020, when I hope to travel to AZ and teach another class like I did in 2019 in Casa Grande, AZ. This year I'd drive down and would enjoy teaching classes along the way.
So...do you live somewhere along my route to AZ? Are you part of a carving club that would like to host a class? At first glance I'll travel through SE South Dakota, passing through Nebraska, NW Kansas, SE Colorado, through New Mexico into AZ.
Returning home I could travel a different route and travel through Utah, Colorado and western parts of Nebraska and South Dakota.
Reach out to me by replying to this email and we can see if a class in your area is possible!
