If you’re skeptical, I get it…
It’s perfectly reasonable to wonder if a Platinum Membership will make you a better chip carver.
I wouldn’t expect you to dive in headfirst without a little proof that it actually works first.
So allow me to make a few introductions. :)
First, I'd like you to meet Doug K.
"The reason I chose to be a platinum member and a project a month member is I had been wanting to learn chip carving for a long time and the Project a Month and/or Platinum membership was almost too good to hope for. I actually wanted to learn to chip carve back in the mid 80's because of a wood carving book that outlined the different types of woodcarving. Because there was no internet and not
knowing of any classes or anyone who even had this skill, I did the best I could with a book. I never really got off the ground. Not knowing any better, I went to a craft store and purchased what the package said was a chip carving knife and began doing the best I could to sharpen it. For some reason, I got it in my head that the carving knife needed to have a double bevel. I gave up. Years later now, I decided to give it
another try and ended up on your web site. What impressed me most about "My Chip Carving" is that it is a complete resource for many skill levels. Beginners can purchase very high quality chip carving knives at a very good price and find several videos on just sharpening. Also, if beginners follow the exercises and are vigilant with completing some of the many projects, then anyone, even myself, can learn to do chip carving. Anyway, thank you very much for a program that
brings me a lot of happiness. Doug"
Then there’s C.C.
"Hi Marty, I'm very rusty which is to be expected but some of the old skill is coming back. I didn't do well with my first attempt on the sharpening kit probably because I'm not real sure what a burr on the edge should feel like. My second effort was a complete success, I think, and it is such a pleasure to do the carving with a truly sharp knife. My real reason for the message because I realize that I along with many other haven't taken time to express my appreciation for all the help and fun
you provide, so Thank You."
And I’ll also mention Dan,
“About a year ago I first became aware of the tutorial videos, carving patterns and chip carving supplies available through your website. Since then I studied the many carving techniques outlined in the tutorials and purchased many items from your store. I have successfully completed Christmas tree ornaments, several wedding plates, napkin holders and candle holders. All have brought accolades and have been gifted to family and friends. I really want to compliment you on your efforts to help a
beginning chip carver become comfortable with my new hobby. The tutorials are very clear, easily understood and adapted ... I have no complaints... I’m very pleased that you have effectively become my chip carving mentor. Thank you for anticipating my needs and having solid solutions readily available.”
What would those kind of results mean for you?
What would your chip carving look like if you were getting similar results as they have?
Would you finally be confident enough to show your chip carving to a friend, enter it in the next carving show or give it away as a gift to someone you care about?
