Hello ,
I was reminded this week of a very simple yet utterly profound statement. Here it is...
You don't know what you don't know.
It came to mind as I was helping a beginning carver get set up to start his journey into chip carving.
While I've said often that "It only takes one knife and something to carve" to start chip carving, that is over simplifying a bit.
Beginning carvers "don't know what they don't know" about what it takes to get started and how to find success. Without a good start they'll likely get frustrated and give up before really getting started. And that's very unfortunate, because it doesn't have to be that way..
That's where you and I can step in and help them "know what they don't know".
The Chip Carving Kits I put together serve this purpose without overwhelming someone who wants to learn to chip carve.
Gift giving time is approaching. Do you know someone who'd like to learn how to chip carve?
And...even experienced chip carvers "don't know what they don't know".
The length of time a person has been chip carving doesn't determine their level of expertise. This is why I encourage ALL carvers to become Platinum Members.
If you've been chip carving for a long time, I promise that you'll learn something in the monthly videos, in the video archive and/or in the live webinars. Or to put it another way to keep with the flow of this article, I'm sure there's something "you WILL know that you DIDN'T know."
This is not to say I'm a no-it-all when it comes to our craft. I know there are things "I don't know that I don't know".Members have said things to me in the past that turned the light bulb on for me that I can then pass on to you.
I hope you'll dwell on this simple statement in the upcoming days. It's really humbling and will put you in the proper mind frame to learn, develop and grow.
You don't know what you don't know.
