The Mighty Babe!
He obviously learned a thing or two about playing baseball but I wonder what else he learned in life? 😊
Throughout my day school, international school and online teaching career, I had plenty to learn in order to be an effective teacher. Sure there's class management and those kind of skills, but I'm talking about course content!
My college degree was in Industrial Education but the majority of my time was spent teaching middle school math, science, Bible, world geography, health and PE.
I could've taught these kids how to change the oil in a car or frame a wall, but to teach them about the creation of the earth and man, biology, geology and the Pythagorean Theorem meant I had to spend a lot of time in the books and commentaries.
Naturally, this time spent learning was needed so I could teach with understanding, conviction and truth. But it also was excellent for me in the development of my own worldview.
It's also been said that, "When you stop learning you die." I'm not sure on this statement but when life is approached with the belief that "There's always something new to learn.", every day is an adventure and a quest.
In this month's 4-part Video Series, Chip Carved Perpetual Calendar, you'll see first hand how I found out that there's plenty more for me to learn in our craft. I don't edit out the challenges I came across. But rather, I explain to you what caused the problems and what you can do to avoid them!
I just recalled another saying that pertains directly to this approach, "You can't learn from perfection!" Always good to remember as a teacher in our craft.
AND...I've assembled this Calendar Project into a Kit that includes everything you'll need to finish it, INCLUDING the Video Tutorials. After purchasing the Kit I'll email you the private link for the step-by-step videos!
So, how about you?
Do you agree with this or have other thoughts on learning?
Have you found this true in your life?
