Last week I gave you a "behind the cover look" into my book, Chip Carving Essentials.

This week I'll share with you another book I've enjoyed.

Chip Carving, The Best of Woodcarving Illustrated.

There are many patterns and projects to like in this book, but the favorite parts I found were those contributed by Barry McKenzie. His focus is on Old World Style chip carving and he describes how to carve OWS leaf patterns and icicle ornaments.

Along with this Barry also shares some nice OWS patterns that will work nicely on the 4 Square Coaster Set! You'll get a glimpse of these in the pictures above.

If you've ever wanted to chip carve a Chess Set, this book has a pattern for it as well. I don't think I've seen one anywhere else.

Other projects include eggs, golf balls, spoon rack, crosses, mangle board and more.

You won't be disappointed if you choose to add this book to your library!

One thing I disliked about this book was that it was printed in China. 😞

My dad has shared with me how exporting printing work to China has crushed a lot of the US printing industry.
