, this month I've been showing you some different Pattern Design software/apps.

and now I'll introduce you to...

Inkscape

Inkscape comes with the price tag of $0.00

It's an open source software supported by a community of users and developers.

This program is available for Mac and PC and can be downloaded here: inkscape.org

Here are some of the pros and cons of Inkscape

Pro:

Free
Creates Vector images - they don't get fuzzy when the size of the image is changed
How-to video tutorials available on YouTube
Powerful
Create any pattern you want and more
Convert existing patterns to Vector
Save patterns in many different formats
Free

Con:

Complicated
Steep learning curve
Need to sort through tutorials to find those that are understandable
Advanced computer skills needed
Complicated

With these pros and cons laid out, you can see why I decided on the Pattern Wizard as the best software tool to include in the Store.

It does what we want in most cases and is easy to use.

Yes, it's not free. But as you see above, free comes with its own costs.

And...it just so happens that we have several of these on CLEARANCE! They're marked down because the grain and/or color is a bit unusual. They'll carve just fine!

There's an option to have the pattern applied. We will apply the April pattern (that you haven't seen yet) unless you desire something else.

When I was in jail last week (guest speaker for Shelley's class! 😂) I passed around a sample holder that was carved. They couldn't figure out what it was, which is understandable.
