#5 - Stained Glass

Several years ago I found this stained glass pattern called Intergalactic Love.

The pattern was beautiful and I started to envision what it would look like after carving. I made a few additions and changes and here's the result.

You can see that it's very similar to the original stained glass pattern.
All I had to do was select which parts to carve to get the look I wanted.

This pattern is available in the Pattern Archive and the Clock Plate is in the Store. Are you ready to carve yours? 🙄

Since the time I found this pattern, the stained glass artist, Chantal, has created a website containing a LOT of unique, creative and chip carver friendly patterns. Here's just a few of her round patterns.

And the patterns keep on going!

The really handy part for us is that she includes the line drawing of the pattern AND you can print the pattern to whatever size you want!

For example, I thought this pattern was interesting and held potential as a chip carved plate. Some of the chips may need to be divided but that's a regular part of pattern design work.

I clicked on the pattern and followed the steps to resize and print it. You can also grab a screen shot of the pattern and open the image in Inkscape or in the background of Pattern Wizard.

Another way to use these ideas is to open Amaziograph and copy some of the shapes. A pattern like this would be created as a "rotation" in Amaziograph.

I thought about searching for more stained glass patterns, but realized that with the vast amount of patterns possibilities available on her website, there's really no need to look anywhere else!

There are round and square shapes as well as various themes that should give you plenty of ideas.
