In the recent Platinum Member webinar, I demonstrated how to chip carve an icicle.
Â
I've not carved an icicle before so we're all in the same position if this is new to you as well.
Â
I've known of chip carved icicles for quite a while but never got around to putting my knife to the wood until now. And it's really quite FUN and EASY!
😅 SPECIAL OFFER 😅
Â
I'm making the same offer to you as I did to the Platinum Community.
Â
COOL offer:FREE EZboard sticks for Icicle Carving!
in the Comments section of your order, mention "Free sticks" and I'll include a few for you to carve!
Expiration date: Saturday, August 21st, 2021
You don't need a book or pattern to carve an icicle. Whatever you carve will be fine. Give it a try!
Â
I showed Platinum a few samples from the book, The Best of Woodcarving series, Chip Carving, by Fox Chapel Publishing.
I started with a 15# density piece of EZboard (high-density urethane) because there is no grain, it's softer than basswood and it's easy to carve and not have any chip out. Paint it any color(s) when you're done carving and you'll have a nice addition to your tree in December.
After demonstrating on EZboard I moved to a piece of basswood and removed some of the same chips.
During the one-hour webinar I was able to get a good start on both icicles and show how easy and enjoyable it is to carve this project. Just draw some lines for the pattern and start carving!
Here are a few samples I found online...
If you're not into icicles...
There are plenty of other things you can carve from these sticks.
Here are just a few.
While these samples are carved in wood, it's even easier to carve them in EZboard!
